Background

Alcohol and Drugs Support South West Scotland is a charitable Company, which offers a range of community-based services across Dumfries and Galloway. We help people affected by problems of alcohol and / or drugs misuse, their own or someone else’s. We are affiliated to Alcohol Focus Scotland, the country’s National Alcohol Charity.

If your life is affected in any way by alcohol or drugs, whether it is your own or someone else’s problem, we may be able to help.

Staff and Volunteers

ADS is managed by a Board of Directors, Chief Executive and Senior Management Team. We employ both paid staff and volunteers. Volunteer training programmes are held regularly. All staff and volunteers working for us undergo enhanced checking with Disclosure Scotland / PVG Scheme. We are accredited with the Scottish Qualifications Authority as an Approved Provider of SVQs.

Quality

We are registered with  Social Care and Social Work Improvement Scotland [SCSWIS]  and are a Recognised Partner with the Dumfries and Galloway Alcohol and Drugs Partnership. . We are also an Investor in People, and are registered with the Office of the Scottish Charities Regulator [OSCR]. We are an Approved Provider with Befriending Network.

We offer a  range of confidential and high quality services, and our services are free to service users. All our services are governed by very strict codes of conduct with regards to confidentiality and information sharing. Our staff and volunteers adhere to a range of agency and professional standards, including those outlined by  the Scottish Social Services Council [SSSC]. We are currently working towards the standards laid out in the National Quality Standards for Substance Misuse Services.

Locations

We aim to deliver services within the communities where our service users live. We have office bases across the region, including Castle Douglas, Dumfries and Stranraer [How to Find Us].

Partnerships

We often deliver services in partnership with other services, including the NHS Specialist Alcohol and Drugs Service and Addaction and other ADP partner organisations
